Gaudenzio Bernasconi, an Italian football player and coach, lived from 8 August 1932 to 10 January 2023. For 13 seasons, Bernasconi competed in the Italian Serie A for Atalanta BC and U.C. Sampdoria (388 games, no goals). He currently ranks third among Sampdoria players with 334 appearances, behind only Roberto Mancini and Moreno Mannini. On April 25, 1956, against Brazil, Bernasconi made his international football team debut for Italy.

Gaudenzio Bernasconi received six Italy caps between 1956 and 1959. The satisfaction of scoring a goal was never diminished by Bernasconi, but he made up for it with a plethora of other attributes: he was reliable and honest, appeared in 133 consecutive games (1955–1959) without receiving a red card, and became a cornerstone of Sampdoria, which was dominant before Paolo Mantovani arrived to the point of dominating the national team.

Along with full-backs Mario Bergamaschi and Azeglio Vicini, Gaudenzio Bernasconi formed a close-knit midfielder with Samp beginning in 1958. These players lined up more consistently in the top division. When wearing a Sampdoria jersey, he was frequently the most noticeable player in the league. He is currently ranked sixth overall.
