He competed in boxing from 1967 until 1997 and went by the name “Big George.” He holds two heavyweight world championships and Olympic gold.

After growing up in a difficult environment, Foreman started boxing as an amateur and won the heavyweight gold medal at the 1968 Summer Olympics.

He became a professional the next year, and in 1973, he defeated Joe Frazier in the second round to win the world heavyweight championship. Before losing to Muhammad Ali in the historic Rumble in the Jungle in 1974, he successfully defended the title twice.

Foreman was ordained as a Christian preacher following what he described as a “religious experience.”

Ten years after making his comeback announcement, he defeated Michael Moorer, then 26 years old, to win the WBA, IBF, and lineal heavyweight crowns in 1994.
