The Philadelphia Eagles selected Vaitai on the 164th overall and in the fifth round of the draught. On May 6, 2016, he committed to the Eagles under a rookie deal. The agreement had a four-year duration and a $2,565,124 price tag.
Vaitai made his debut in Week 5, after the ten-game suspension of starting right tackle Lane Johnson. Prior to suffering an MCL sprain in that game, which prevented him from playing the rest of the season, he had held the starting position through Week 11.
