Gration was a journalist and broadcaster and also became a Deputy Lieutenant of North Yorkshire.
He was a history teacher and later became a head of the history at The Rodillian Academy for five years. While at The Rodillian Academy, he became a sports commentator on Rugby League games.
This got him a contract with the BBC from which he later resigned as a teacher and fully ventured into broadcasting at BBC Radio Leeds in the year 1978.
Harry Gration had married twice and gotten divorced, but was married to Helen Gration at the time of his death. He is the father of six children.
Gration died on 24 June 2022 aged 71.
