After entering the WWF, Calaway adopted the moniker “The Undertaker.” The Undertaker, one of WWE’s most well-known and enduring personas, is renowned for his undead, funereal, macabre “Deadman” persona, which attracted substantial mainstream appeal and earned him the Wrestling Observer Newsletter award for Best Gimmick a record-breaking 5 years in a row.

With 30 years of professional wrestling experience, The Undertaker is the longest-tenured wrestler in company history and one of the most well-known representatives of the Attitude Era, the WWF/high-rated, E’s boundary-pushing generation in the late 1990s/early 2000s.

In 2000, Calaway developed The Undertaker, adding a human element and a motorcycle persona that he called “The American Badass” to the character. With the surviving components of American Badass Undertaker, Calaway later revived Deadman Undertaker in 2004.
