Time magazine referred to the American magician, memory expert, and author Harry Lorayne as “The Yoda of Memory Training” and “The World’s Foremost Memory-Training Specialist.”

Lorayne made numerous television appearances, including 24 on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, where he demonstrated his amazing memory.

Lorayne was raised in the Lower East Side of New York City and studied magic in the Hamilton Fish Park in the 1930s. At the age of 18, Lorayne started working as a table magician at Billy Reed’s Little Club in New York, located at 70 E. 55th St. Victor Jory, a well-known actor known for playing a magician detective, frequented the club on a regular basis.

Jory encouraged Lorayne to continue performing memory tricks, and Lorayne’s performance style changed as a result. He had previously resided at North of Boston in Newburyport.

How Did Harry Lorayne Die?

Harry Lorayne passed away at age 96. No one knows what caused his demise.
