He was born in England to the illustrious Battenberg dynasty, he was among the Royal Navy during World War I, and during World War II, he was named Supreme Allied Commander, South East Asia Command.

Later on, he served as the final Viceroy of India and, for a short time, as the Dominion of India’s first Governor-General.

How did Louis Mountbatten die?

Louis Mountbatten died on 27 August 1979, as a result of a bomb that had been secretly placed in the boat he was in, Lord Louis Mountbatten was pulled from the water, and his legs reportedly almost severed from the blast, which he died afterwards.

The incident happened when he went lobster fishing on his wooden boat, Shadow V, in the village of Mullaghmore, County Sligo, where he went with his elder daughter Patricia and her husband, also his twin 14-year-old grandsons Nicholas and Timothy, and his son-in-law’s mother Doreen, Dowager Lady Brabourne and a 15-year-old boat boy, called Paul Maxwell.

During the party at the boat, a bomb that was secretly planted in the boat exploded.
