An autopsy showed that “Naked and Afraid” contestant Melanie Rauscher died by accident when she sucked in a fatal amount of compressed air used in cleaning products, according to a report. Her official cause of death was listed as difluoroethane toxicity.
The street slang for that is called “huffing” and it’s a practice used mostly by young adults seeking a cheap high.
The report said that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in her death. Rauscher had been dog-sitting at the time. The owners returned home from vacation to find her dead on the bed in the guest room.
