Shania Twain became a cultural icon of the 1990s thanks to her appealing voice and standing as one of the most influential female musicians in the history of country music.
She has faced some challenges in her musical career, nevertheless. The “Not Just a Girl” premiere of Twain’s new Netflix documentary, which explores the singer’s humble background and quick rise to fame, is scheduled for July 26.
Along with her professional achievements, she also had to deal with vocal problems brought on by Lyme disease.

 

How Did Shania Twain Lose Her Voice?

Shania Twain was concerned she would never be able to sing again after contracting Lyme disease in 2003 and suffering nerve damage to her vocal cords as a result.
The multi-Grammy winner and hitmaker spoke about her “devastating” battle with the illness during a guest appearance on Loose Women.
Twain confessed that she has difficulty speaking normally and that she briefly thought she would never perform again. She underwent numerous throat surgeries in an effort to try to fix the damage. The bite of an infected tick is how the bacteria that causes Lyme disease, Borrelia burgdorferi, is spread.
