Sinbad was released in 2003, and was written by John Logan and directed by Tim Johnson and Patrick Gilmore, it featured Actors like Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Joseph Fiennes, and also the voices of Brad Pitt. The movie is about the tale of Sinbad (Pitt), who happens to be a pirate, he was sailing the seas with his dog, alongside with his devoted crew, and Marina (Zeta-Jones), also with the fiancée of his childhood friend Prince Proteus (Fiennes), in order to retrieve the Book of Peace that Eris (Pfeiffer) has stolen in order to save the world.

When Sinbad was released on the second of July 2003, it had mixed reviews from people. They praised the animation, action sequences, and voice acting while criticizing the plot and divisive CGI. Sinbad, which made $80.8 million on a $60 million budget, was a box office flop that cost DreamWorks $125 million losses across a number of movies, almost driving them into bankruptcy. This was the last DreamWorks Animation movie to use traditional animation before the company switched to computer animation. But in 2018, DreamWorks revived 2D animation for the 5-minute short Bird Karma.
