The famed groundskeeper for Arsenal, Steve Braddock, passed away on August 19, 2022.
Before passing away recently, Baddock recalled that the image that stuck with him most from his first match at Highbury as a child was of the beautiful grass.
The pitch at Highbury for Arsenal rose to prominence under Steve.
More than any other player in the game, he was an expert in pitch preparation. He received numerous individual honors for his skill and enthusiasm in grounds keeping, including the 2019 Turf’s Top Influencer award and Premier League Pitch of the Season recognition.
2020 marks Steve’s induction into the Grounds Management Association Hall of Fame, making him just the second person in history to receive this honor.
Steve dedicated his life to keeping our lawn looking lovely.
