The Cincinnati Reds, Oakland Athletics, and New York Yankees were among his previous teams. The Minnesota Twins received Gray from the Reds on March 13, 2022 in exchange for Chase Petty and Francis Peguero. Gray played baseball for the Vanderbilt Commodores while he was a student at Vanderbilt University. Gray was chosen by the Athletics in the opening round of the 2011 MLB Draft.
