William “Poogie” Hart best known as the key singer and songwriter for the R and B and soul vocal band The Delfonics from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed on, he was 77 at the time of his demise.
Hart was born on January 17, 1945, in Washington, D.C.The United States.
Hart set up a group in 1964 with his brother Wilbert called the Orphonics, together with Randy Cain and Richie Daniels. They later changed the name to Delfonics.
In 1968 they released their first single for the label, La-La (Means I Love You) which touched No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
He went to USC where he obtained a doctorate in English, Hart was a tutor at Los Angeles University where he taught basic writing /ESL.
His poetry and stories were broadly seen in newspapers, anthologies and magazines. Hart wrote four poetry collections, for which he gained a national award for two.

According to his son, the singer was admitted to the hospital as a result of his inability to breathe well, and he passed on due to inconveniences during the surgery.
