Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) is an international standard competency exam for people who are not native Chinese language speakers. HSK, like Cambridge for English, is the official Chinese exam for foreigners. The Chinese government instituted the test in 2010. The HSK test is divided into two sections: written and oral examinations. The written test has six levels ranging from HSK level 1 to HSK level 6, while the oral exam has three levels ranging from HSK Basic to HSK Intermediate to HSK Advanced. This is one of the criteria for Chinese teaching Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees when applying to study in China.

How fluent is HSK 4?
