At the Road World Championships, Norwegian rider Tobias Foss astonished both himself and his competitors by winning the boys’ time trial.
Despite never having previously won a race outside of his country’s national championships, the 25-year-old Norwegian’s performance of 40:02 earned him the rainbow jersey.
The 25-year-old completed the challenging, two-lap, 34.2 km circuit around the coastal city, which is around 80 km south of Sydney, in 40 minutes, 02.78 seconds. He then watched as a relatively small number of well-known champions finished the race.
