Takeoff, who was born Kirshnik Khari Ball on June 18, 1994, in Lawrenceville, Georgia, founded Migos in 2009 with family members Quavo and Offset in an attempt to break free from the ghetto cycle of poverty and crime.
Their breakthrough single, “Versace,” was released in 2013, followed by the album Yung Rich Nation in 2015, and Culture two years later. Takeoff’s absence from the album’s lead single, “Bad and Boujee,” sparked a minor Internet backlash; he dismissed it, claiming he was simply unavailable for the recording session.
Takeoff is the newest member of the influential trap group Migos, whose singles “Versace” and “Bad and Boujee” gained significant streaming success and whose 2017 sophomore album, Culture, topped the pop charts in both the United States and Canada.
Takeoff released The Last Rocket, his solo full-length debut in 2018, with singles including the 2022 Rich The Kid collaboration “Crypto,” in addition to his work with Migos.
