After leading F91 Dudelange to their first-ever appearance in the UEFA Europa League Group Stages during the 2018–19 season, which the team concluded with one point after drawing their final match against Real Betis, Toppmoller was appointed manager of the team in June 2016. This was the first time the club had ever qualified for the UEFA Europa League Group Stages.
