In Nichols first position, Nichols covered the Miami Dolphins and University of Miami football team for the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. To cover the NHL’s Washington Capitals, Nichols joined The Washington Post in 1996. Later, she expanded into other sports like Major League Baseball, the Olympics, the National Basketball Association, and professional tennis.
