Australian competitive swimmer Emma McKeon. She competed in the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore. She won gold in the mixed 4 100 meter medley relay, silver in the mixed 4 100 meter freestyle relay, and bronze in the girls’ 4 100 meter medley relay. She also placed second in the 100-meter freestyle and 200-meter freestyle relays. In April 2016, McKeon received the honor of representing Australia at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She and her brother David were chosen to be the first brother and sister to swim for Australia at an Olympic Games since John and Ilsa Konrads in 1960.

 

At the 2016 Summer Olympics, she started the four-person 100-meter freestyle relay team that broke a world record and won gold in 3:30.65. McKeon also won two silver medals in the 4 x 200-meter freestyle and 4 x 100-meter medley relays. She won the bronze medal in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 1:54.92 to become one of five Australian swimmers to do so at Rio.

McKeon finished first among female competitors at the short course 2021 FINA Swimming World Cup stop in Budapest, Hungary. She won a few events at Budapest, including the 50-meter butterfly when she finished first with a time of 24.97 seconds.

Eight times, including once in 2016 and seven times in 2021, she has competed in the long course meters event at the Olympics.
