Oscar Leonard Carl Pistorius, better known by his stage name Oscar Pistorius, was born on November 22, 1986, in Johannesburg. Oscar is a Paralympic runner who attended the University of Pretoria.
Pistorius was born without calf bones, and at the age of 11 months, his parents decided to amputate both of his legs below the knee so that he could wear prosthetics.
After suffering a knee injury during a rugby match and undergoing therapy at the University of Pretoria’s High-Performance Center, he was introduced to the world of running.

Pistorius competed in his first 100-meter race at Pretoria Boys High School six months after his rugby accident. His time of 11.72 seconds reportedly beat the previous Paralympic world record of 12.20 seconds.

How many years does Oscar Pistorius have left?

In November 2017, the South African Supreme Court of Appeal added 9 years to the sentence, for a total of 15 years, following a government appeal. Pistorius will be eligible for parole in 2023.
