Beard joined The Moving Sidewalks in May 1969, which was a group that later became ZZ Top in July 1969. Beard introduced Gibbons to Dusty Hill, Gibbkns was a bassist and singer who had previously played with Beard in the bands American Blues, the Warlocks, and the Cellar Dwellers.
