Bublik said in November 2016 that he will change his citizenship from Russia to Kazakhstan after receiving support from the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation that the Russian Tennis Federation reportedly could not deliver.
Alexander Bublik, Stanislavovich, began playing tennis at the age of four. His father, Stanislav, was his coach.
Bublik achieved a career-high ranking of No. 19 on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior circuit, winning eleven tournaments (six singles and five doubles).
Bublik joined a number of other players in switching to Kazakhstan in 2016, explaining: “Nobody in Russia cared about me, as painful as that may sound. And suddenly folks are concerned about my well-being.
“They also go out of their way to ensure that my career is a success. That is the most crucial factor! Kazakhstan Tennis Federation takes excellent care of me.
“They assist, work, and create the necessary conditions for me to do successfully. In Russia, it was impossible. Astana also has a fantastic tennis facility.
“I’m not sure how to put that into words. But it’s fantastic. I’m never going back to the Russian squad [like Ksenia Pervak] since we’ve already decided to play for Kazakhstan. I’m not returning.”
