Ian Blackford is an Edinburgh native who was formerly employed as an investment banker and has subsequently been involved in a number of entrepreneurial endeavors.
From 1999 to 2000, he served as the SNP’s national treasurer. After Angus Robertson lost his seat in the 2017 early general election, Blackford was elected as the SNP’s Westminster leader. Stephen Flynn took over after he left the position in December 2022.
