Izear Luster popularly called “Ike” Turner Jr., was an American musician, bandleader, songwriter, record producer, and talent scout, he was born on November 5, 1931. He is known for his work as the leader of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue in the 1960s and 1970s with his then-wife Tina Turner, who was one of the early pioneers of 1950s rock and roll.

Turner, is a native of Clarksdale, Mississippi, and he started playing the piano and guitar when he was young. As a teenager, he found the Kings of Rhythm. His debut song, “Rocket 88” (credited to Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats), was a candidate for the title of first rock and roll tune. Turner also served as a producer and talent scout for Sun Records and Modern Records in 1950. He helped launch the early careers of many blues musicians, including Bobby “Blue” Bland, Howlin’ Wolf, and B.B. King.

Ike Turner cause of death

Ike Turner was reported to die from drug over dose, in 2007. He told his assistant Falina Rasool on December 10, 2007, that he felt he was dying and wouldn’t live to see Christmas. However, two days later, Turner died at his home in San Marcos, California, on December 12 at the age of 76 years, his ex-wife Ann Thomas found him dead.
