“Natural warrior” is an accurate description of Archie, according to his mother, Hollie Dance. Prior to the tragedy, he was described by his family as a physically active young man who competed in mixed martial arts and gymnastics.
They further claim that two years ago, when he saw other mixed martial arts athletes pray before a match, he became interested in Christianity. Upon Archie’s arrival to the Barts Health NHS Trust-run Royal London Hospital in east London, doctors told his family they felt his brain injury was so severe that he had already died at the level of the brain stem.

At the conclusion of the hearing on June 13th, the court declared that Archie had died on May 31st, the day of his MRI scan, and that life support may be stopped for him.
On June 29, Archie’s parents were successful in getting the case reconsidered and scheduled for a second hearing before a new judge.
