Barker enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II after growing up in Darrington, Washington. While attending college, Bob Barker worked part-time in radio. In 1950, Bob Barker relocated to California to pursue a career in broadcasting.
The Bob Barker Show, which aired for six years, was given to him. In 1956, Bob Barker debuted on the game show Truth or Consequences.
