In May 1954, Eastwood had his first actual audition for Six Bridges to Cross but was turned down by Joseph Pevney. After multiple unsuccessful tryouts, director Jack Arnold cast him in Revenge of the Creature (1955), a sequel to the recently released Creature from the Black Lagoon.
For the first time, Eastwood tried his hand at directing when he shot multiple trailers for the program but was unable to persuade management to allow him to direct an episode.
