One of the many questions surrounding the recent death of a young Black woman in Mexico is who the individuals who she travelled with and why those so-called friends allowed her to be assaulted as at least one other person watched and recorded the altercation on tape. According to reports, Shanquella Robinson died less than 24 hours after arriving in Cabo with up to six friends late last month. The 25-year-death-old was tragic, yet a disproportionate amount of social media debate was about how she died.
In what looks to be a hotel room with a view of the tropics, Robinson is purportedly shown in a video being viciously assaulted by another woman. On Saturday night, Shanquella’s pals told her mom that she wasn’t feeling well and that they were going to call an ambulance. They then asserted that alcohol had poisoned her.
However, they discovered that the cause of her death was not what her companion had claimed when they contacted the FBI and the Mexican authorities and requested an autopsy report.
The postmortem report revealed that she died of a fractured neck, a spasm in her back, a split in her spinal column, and other injuries after the friends initially claimed that she had alcohol poisoning. According to an autopsy, Robinson had a “cracked” spine and a fractured neck. According to authorities in Mexico, Robinson had no alcohol in her system.
