Derek Sloan (born November 11, 1984) is a former member of the Hastings—Lennox, and Addington electoral district in Canada.

Sloan stood for the Conservative Party leadership in 2020 shortly after being elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 2019 federal election but was defeated on the first ballot.

His controversial views on LGBTQ issues, as well as reportedly racist remarks, have garnered him global attention.

Sloan was kicked out of the Conservative Party caucus on January 20, 2021, after it was discovered that he had accepted a gift from white supremacist Paul Fromm.

“Because of a pattern of harmful behavior including several occurrences,” party head Erin O’Toole explained.

Is Derek Sloan a Seventh-Day Adventist?

Sloan ran unaffiliated in the Banff—Airdrie riding in the 2021 Canadian federal election, finishing a distant fifth.

Sloan defeated one-term Liberal incumbent Mike Bossio in the 2019 federal election, becoming the first Seventh-day Adventist to be elected to the Canadian House of Commons.
