Later on, he worked as a real estate broker. His maternal mother, Miriam, was born in New Jersey, but his grandparents immigrated from Saint Philip, Barbados (January 25, 1924 – August 13, 2010). Holder was educated in the public system up until the age of ten while growing up in East Elmhurst, Queens.
