James Gordon Brown HonFRSE is a British politician, he was born on February 20, 1951. He held the position of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and also the Leader of the Labour Party from 2007 to 2010, he was the Blair administration’s Chancellor of the Exchequer, from 1997 until 2007. Brown served as an MP, first for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath and then for Dunfermline East which was from 1983 to 2015. In terms of Scottish and Labour politicians, he is the most recent person to hold the position of Prime Minister.
Brown studied history at the University of Edinburgh, and he graduated with a doctorate degree before he was selected as the Rector in 1972. He spent the first part of his career working as a television journalist and a lecturer at a college for continuing education. Back In 1983, he was elected to the British House of Commons to represent Dunfermline East. In 1992, he was promoted to be the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer after joining the Shadow Cabinet in 1989, as Shadow Secretary of State for Trade. He was also appointed as Chancellor of the Exchequer following Labour’s victory in 1997, making him the longest-serving holder of that office in modern history.
