Emanuel Alejandro Rodriguez (born November 14, 1986) is an American professional wrestler who now goes by the ring name Samuray Del Sol. He is best recognized for his tenure in WWE, where Kalisto went by the ring name Kalisto. Rodriguez made his professional wrestling debut in 2006 on the Midwestern United States independent circuit, wearing a mask and going by the ring name Samuray del Sol (Spanish for “Samurai of the Sun”).
Kalisto began working for larger promotions in 2011 after establishing himself as one of the area’s best high-flyers, and was signed by Dragon Gate USA in 2012. The same year, he debuted for the Mexican promotion AAA, where Kalisto was repackaged as Octagón Jr., the narrative protégé of well-known luchador Octagón, in November. In addition, Kalisto has worked for Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), Independent Wrestling Association Mid-South (IWA-MS), National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG).
Is Kalisto and Rey Mysterio the same?
Simply said, Kalisto didn’t have as much success because he wasn’t Rey Mysterio. Rey is an incredible legend, and Kalisto’s look and style were clearly influenced by Rey’s, and despite his abilities in the ring, he got close to being like Rey, but he is not Rey. As a result, his entire performance felt like a rip-off of Rey.
