Due to the fact that Marlynn’s father had purchased a small number of KFC restaurants in Waterloo, Iowa, the father and mother had also moved there. Later, it was discovered that John’s first homosexual encounter happened only while he was still married. Marlynn admitted to getting remarried after divorcing John in a 1979 interview, and that she had not seen him in a while. Throughout their marriage, she insisted that neither she nor John had any attraction to men, so she was shocked to discover what John had done.
