Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin has recently reached a resolution with Marriott in his high-profile defamation lawsuit, which sought $100 million in damages from the hotel chain. Following the conclusion of this legal battle, Irvin is poised to make his much-anticipated return to NFL Network this upcoming Sunday morning, as per reports from Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.

The lawsuit’s origins trace back to an incident on February 5th at the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown hotel, where Irvin was lodging at the time. A female staff member alleged that Irvin engaged in inappropriate and offensive conversation during a chance encounter in the hotel’s lobby. Irvin vehemently contested these allegations, questioning their severity and implications during a news conference on March 14th.

“Am I expected to believe that I would go so far as to pursue, kidnap, or even take a life?” Irvin incredulously stated at the time.

In the wake of this incident, NFL Media, the overseeing body of NFL Network, made the decision to suspend Michael Irvin more than seven months ago, immediately after his last appearance at the Super Bowl Opening Night on February 6th in Phoenix.

Following this suspension, Irvin initiated legal action against Marriott, as well as six other parties, which included an individual referred to as Jane Doe. The lawsuit encompassed claims of defamation and interference in a business relationship, stemming from Marriott’s communication with the NFL about the aforementioned incident.

As of now, the precise terms of the settlement between Irvin and Marriott remain undisclosed. Additionally, there has been no official statement from NFL Media regarding Irvin’s standing with the network.

Irvin recently made a guest appearance on FS1’s “Undisputed” program, hosted by Skip Bayless. This public appearance served as a clear indicator of Irvin’s intention to reenter the public eye and resume his professional endeavors.
