Kyrgios was born in Canberra, Australia, to a Greek father and a Malay mother, George and Norlaila (“Nill”). His father is a self-employed house painter, while his mother is a computer engineer.

His mother was born into the Selangor royal family in Malaysia, but when she moved to Australia in her thirties, she gave up her title as a princess.

His two siblings are Christos, his brother, and Halimah, his sister.

Kyrgios attended Radford College until Year 8, after which he transferred to Daramalan College in Canberra, where he completed his Year 12 diploma in 2012.

Kyrgios also played basketball in his early adolescence before deciding to devote his time exclusively to tennis at the age of 14.

He received a full scholarship at the Australian Institute of Sport two years later, where he was able to strengthen his tennis skills.

Kyrgios moved his training base from Canberra to Melbourne Park in 2013 in order to improve his career by having access to better facilities and hitting partners.

Tennis ACT launched a $27 million makeover of the Lyneham Tennis Centre in Canberra a year later in an attempt to entice Kyrgios back to Canberra and host Davis Cup and Fed Cup matches.

Following his five-set win at the Australian Open on Wednesday night, Nick Kyrgios has been crowned “The King.” Many others, though, would be unaware of how appropriate the royal title is.

Because of his mother, Norlaila Kyrgios, the 25-year-old tennis player is known for his colorful and outspoken antics on and off the court.
