Philip Seymour Hoffman was an American actor best known for his impressive supporting roles in movies like Doubt, Charlie Wilson’s War, Mission Impossible III and Hunger Games.

Hoffman was born July 23, 1967, in Fairport, New York to Marilyn O’Connor and Gordon Stowell Hoffman.

He grew up with one brother Gordy and two sisters Jill and Emily. Hoffman’s ancestry is German and Irish.

Seymour started acting in 1991 on an episode of Law and Order.

In 1992, the young Hoffman starred in the critically acclaimed Scent of a Woman, the role gave him recognition in the film industry.

In 1996, Philip got a role in the year’s blockbuster movie, Twister. In 2005, Hoffman got the role of a lifetime, Capote.

He won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role. He was named one of the finest actors of his generation for the characterization of Truman Capote.

Is Philip Seymour Hoffman Alive?

Hoffman was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on February 2, 2014. His death was officially ruled out as an accidental overdose.

He left behind his partner Mimi O’Donnell and three children.
