Austin Richard Post, better known by his stage name Post Malone, is a rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer from the United States.

Nicole Frazier Lake and Rich Post of Walton, New York, raised Post in Syracuse, New York.

Post’s father was a disc jockey in his adolescence and introduced him to a variety of musical styles, including hip-hop, country, and rock.

He is descended from Polish, English, and Scottish ancestors.

Post moved to Grapevine, Texas, with his father and stepmother Jodie when he was nine years old after his father was hired as the Dallas Cowboys’ concessions manager.

Post began playing the guitar in 2010 and auditioned for Crown the Empire, but was turned down after his guitar strings broke during the audition.

Guitar Hero, a popular video game, sparked his early interest in mastering the instrument.

Post has always been a fan of emo music, and in June 2017, he performed a DJ set at Emo Nite in Los Angeles, where he performed My Chemical Romance.

Post claims that his first journey into professional music came while he was a member of a heavy metal band.

After that, he says he moved on to softer rock and hip-hop before starting to dabble with FL Studio.
