Outside of those areas, the company granted permission to other companies to use the RadioShack name in parts of Asia, North Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
Is Radioshack still in business?
Retail Ecommerce Ventures (REV), a holding company established by controversial financial influencer Tai Lopez and his partner Alex Mehr, bought RadioShack. RadioShack serves primarily as an online retailer, a network of independently owned and operated RadioShack stores, and a distributor of parts for HobbyTown USA.
Even though it has a smaller selection, the official Radio Shack website is still accessible. The Associated Press reports that about 400 Radio Shack-branded merchants operate independently of REV. As of 2014, there were approximately 5,200 locations open. At the time of the bankruptcy filing in 2017, there were roughly 1,500 stores, but hundreds of them have since closed.
