Authorities reportedly think they found explosives when searching the residence of the alleged shooter, according to local media.
The act was denounced as “barbaric and disgusting” by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who added that it could not be tolerated before Mr. Abe’s demise was made public.
According to Mr. Kishida, the occurrence was “very horrible” and took place during elections, which are the foundation of our democracy.
At a news conference conducted at the Nara Medical University Hospital, medical personnel disclosed that Mr. Abe had heart damage in addition to two bullet wounds to his neck that were separated by around 5 cm (1 inch).
Mr. Abe, 67, was said to be awake and conscious in the immediate aftermath of the incident, but his condition deteriorated.
Medical experts claim that the former prime minister required a blood transfusion while receiving treatment because no vital signs had been discovered by the time he was taken to the hospital.
