The crime drama Snowfall was created by Dave Andron, Eric Amadio, and John Singleton for FX. Snowfall was introduced on July 5, 2017.

The drama takes place in 1983 at the beginning of the crack epidemic and centers on three main characters: Franklin Saint, a 21-year-old Compton grocery store clerk who became a major crime boss in the drug trade, Teddy McDonald, a CIA agent who is currently trafficking cocaine, and Gustavo “El Oso” Zapata, a broke Mexican wrestler who was hired as an enforcer by the Villanueva Cartel.

Is Snowfall’s Franklin Saint Based On A Real Person?

The character of Franklin Saint is not based on a real person, claim the show’s creators John Singleton, Eric Amadio, and Dave Andron. However, Singleton’s own Los Angeles youth served as inspiration for the series’ protagonist.

The co-creator said to the crowd during the 2017 ATX Festival, “This is kind of like my formative years.” Singleton attended school in the Valley, far from his friends and family back home, like Franklin did. Years later, after watching the lives of his fellow Valley students and residents of South Central, he was motivated to co-create the series.
