When Clayton’s seven-year-old daughter spoke to the Steuben County Sheriff about her mother’s murder, his heart shattered terribly. She mentioned how, when he first spoke to her, she saw someone hurting her mother.
When Allard questioned her about how she knew the murderer was a specific person, she responded that the person who injured her mother had eyes similar to those of her father. The Clayton murder case was greatly slowed down by this claim.

After 21 years of service, Allard, a former police officer, retired as a Lieutenant from the City of Corning Police Department in 2009. In 2013, he developed into the Steuben County Undersheriff.
The previous Lieutenant also served as the session director for Corning Community College’s Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy. He was chosen to serve as Steuben County Sheriff in 2016.
