The horrible circumstances surrounding the discovery of Tylee Ryan and Joshua “JJ” Vallow in Chad Daybell’s backyard are described in court documents that were made public on Friday evening. JJ was restrained with duct tape and plastic wrap while Tylee was burned and dismembered.
An 11-page probable cause affidavit, which was released by Magistrate Judge Faren Eddins on Friday, contains the specifics. The records relate to Chad Daybell, who is charged with two felonies for allegedly deleting or hiding evidence.
He was taken into custody on June 9 and lodged in the Fremont County Jail after detectives unearthed Tylee and JJ’s remains in two different locations on his Salem property.
The mother of the children, Lori Vallow Daybell, is being detained in the Madison County Jail on suspicion of three misdemeanours and child abandonment.
While visiting Yellowstone National Park with their mother, uncle, Alex Cox, and JJ on September 8, 2019, Tylee Ryan was last seen. Earlier this year, Rexburg police released images from the journey.

The Woodcock and Ryan families verified on June 10, 2020, that the remains found on Chad’s property were those of Tylee and J.J. On June 13, Rexburg police formally confirmed this discovery. Consequently, Tylee Ryan is dead.
