American pitcher Jacob Anthony deGrom, born on June 19, 1988, plays for the Major League Baseball team New York Mets (MLB). DeGrom played college baseball for the Stetson Hatters while attending Stetson University before turning pro.

When deGrom was a junior at Stetson, he switched from shortstop to pitcher in his baseball career. He was chosen by the Mets in the ninth round of the MLB Draft in 2010, and on May 15, 2014, he made his MLB debut with the team. DeGrom received two awards for Rookie of the Month in the National League (NL) that year, as well as Rookie of the Year. DeGrom was chosen as an MLB All-Star in both 2015 and 2018. The deGrominator is his nickname.

DeGrom participated in the baseball and basketball teams at Calvary Christian Academy in Ormond Beach, Florida. DeGrom was selected to the All-Florida second team as a senior by the Florida Sports Writers Association. The coaches of the Stetson Hatters, the college baseball team for Stetson University, took notice of him while he was playing American Legion baseball as well.
