Jamal Adams to miss Seattle Seahawks vs. Los Angeles Rams, ruled out for Week 1 | Injury Update

The Seattle Seahawks strong safety Jamal Adams won’t be available for Week 1 game against the Los Angeles Rams in the season opener, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll reportedly said that cornerback Devon Witherspoon is unlikely to play in the upcoming game and safety Jamal Adams has been ruled out for Week 1 in an interview on Friday on 93.3 KJR, according to Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune.

The former first-round draft pick, who tore his quadriceps tendon during the Seahawks’ 2022 season opener, is reaching the end of his recovery process. Coach Carroll stated that they plan to be patient with the former high-profile trade acquisition despite their general optimism over injuries. The 14-year veteran of Seattle’s head coaching staff told KJR that they were giving Adams’ recuperation and rehab the highest priority, therefore he might miss several games.

However, Adams may be able to play within the first four weeks of the season based on the team’s decision to include him on its 53-man roster.

As per reports, the 28-year-old safety was conspicuously missing from the Seahawks’ pregame warmup against the Rams. Adams has been limited to taking part in walkthroughs after being removed from the active/PUP list on August 24. The former Jets star has missed 25 games as a Seahawk overall for a variety of causes.

The team signed Julian Love in free agency as some safety position insurance. Love has now joined Adams and Quandre Diggs in what is regarded as the most expensive safeties in the NFL.

In accordance with his area of expertise, the Seahawks’ strategy involves placing Jamal Adams closer to the line of scrimmage, while Quandre Diggs and Julian Love do more conventional safety tasks. Love and Diggs agreed to a two-year, $12 million pact in March. Diggs is now bound by a three-year, $39 million contract.
