James Florio was mentored by the former mayor of Camden, Angelo Errichetti.He held the position of 49th governor of New Jersey from 1990 to 1994, being the first American of Italian origin to do so.
After finishing his undergraduate work at Trenton State College, which is now The College of New Jersey, Florio continued his education at the Rutgers School of Law-Camden, where he earned a J.D. in 1967.
