Ján Gregu, is a Slovak professional footballer, who was born on the 29th of January 1991, he currently plays for Nashville SC of Major League Soccer and the Slovakia national team.
He made his senior team debut on March 31, 2015, against the Czech Republic, and also assisted Ondrej Duda for the game-winning goal in the 49th minute. At the end of the year, he had also been selected for matches against Spain, Switzerland, and Iceland.
Gregu scored his first goal for the senior team in 2017, in his 12th cap for the national team. His right-foot shot snuck under Andrew Hogg in the 42nd minute of a qualifying match for the 2018 FIFA World Cup versus Malta in Ta’Qali.
The score was 1-1 at the time, after an early goal by Vladimr Weiss (2nd minute), followed by a 14th-minute equaliser by Jean Paul Farrugia. Slovakia went on to win the game 3-1, moving to second place in Group F after five of the ten matches played.
Gregu stated after the game that this goal was “so far, the most important” in his career. After being benched in the semi-finals against UAE, he played the remaining 90 minutes of the 2018 King’s Cup against Thailand (3-2 victory), claiming his first trophy with Slovakia.
