Forensic pathologists originally examined the body parts and skeletons that were discovered. The portable freezer included a decapitated frozen head, defleshed bones, and 3480g of tissue cut into uneven, square pieces no bigger than 15 cm.
A 55-gallon drum contained four decomposing skeletons that were roughly represented by the different dissection planes of dismemberment. The anthropologist was able to connect the postcranial skeleton to a skull thanks to the atlanto-occipital joints’ unusual morphology.

The detective notified Dahmer of the autopsy’s findings. Dahmer reluctantly admitted that by drilling the skulls and injecting acids and other substances, he had attempted to create “zombie sex slaves.” Investigators came to the conclusion that Dahmer deliberately “lobotomized” his victims in an effort to maximize the effectiveness of his experiment.
