Jerry Blavat, is a disc Jockey, and also a radio and television personality from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Blavat began hosting a television dance show called “Discophonic Scene,” back in 1970, which aired on local Philadelphia stations and helped to solidify his reputation as a popular and influential DJ.

Blavat made his television debut in 1953, on the original Bandstand on WFIL-TV alongside Lee Stewart and Bob Horn. He managed Danny and the Juniors’ 1956 nationwide tour, and in 1958–1959 he served as Don Rickles’ valet. In 1960, he started his radio career, and during 1963, his program was syndicated in Allentown, Camden, Atlantic City, Trenton, Pottstown, and Wilmington. Blavat co-founded the Lost Nite and Crimson record labels in 1960, with Jerry Greene and Jared Weinstein. The three of them jointly operated Record Museum, which is a now-defunct chain of record shops with headquarters in Philadelphia.

Jerry Blavat died at Jefferson-Methodist Hospital, on January 20, 2023, as a result of complications from myasthenia gravis and health related issues. However he was suffering from a shoulder injury, which led to him canceling his upcoming show at the Kimmel Cultural Campus.
