Jessica Leigh Carter, is an English professional footballer who currently plays as a defender for Chelsea FC, and the England women’s national team. She was born on October 27, 1997, and known to be an ambassador for Judan Ali, a former Arsenal junior player who runs an all-female football programme.

Carter has played for England’s U19 and U20 national teams. She scored her first goal for the England U19 squad against Norway. She was called up to the senior England squad for a qualifier against Kazakhstan in 2017 and came on, in the 77th minute, replacing Lucy Bronze, as England won 5-0.

Carter was a member of the England side that won the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 in June 2022, and was given the number 201 when the FA unveiled their legacy numbers plan to commemorate the 50th anniversary of England’s first international match.

Carter joined Chelsea on a three-year contract from Birmingham City in June 2018. She started her career as a marginal player at Chelsea, starting only 11 WSL games in her first three seasons with the club.
