He had been well before, but this illness started to make him physically less healthy. Radiation therapy was required of him, which stunted the growth of his body.
Less than 10% of those who are diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia will survive the disease.
Additionally, as time passed, his situation progressively deteriorated. At St. Louis Children’s Hospital, he suffered a cardiac arrest when he was in the cardiac intensive care unit.
Doctors requested his parents’ consent for his double-lung transplant on October 24, 2007. They advised them to pick one of two possibilities.
